Soil Test Kits

Regular Soil Test Kits - $9.00 each
(On July 1, 2004, Penn State's Agricultural Analytical Services Laboratory increased the price of its soil testing service for the first time in 15 years. Fees generated from soil test kit sales are used to cover all laboratory expenses, which have risen steadily over the last 15 years.)

Soil Test Kits may be puchased at the Extension Office during regular business hours. Simple instructions explain the procedure for gathering a soil sample from a home or commercial lawn; home vegetable, fruit, or flower garden; landscape or ornamental bed; or commercial fields. Penn State's Agricultural Analytical Services Lab will test the macronutrient level of the soil and return a report with recommendations.

The regular soil test kit will provide results and recommendations for:

  • Nitrogen (N)
  • Phosphorus (P)
  • Potassium (K)
  • Soil pH

Other soil tests can be performed for additional fees. For a complete list and fee schedule, you may request the pamphlet "Agricultural Analytical Services Laboratory" from the Extension office or visit the Penn State's Agricultural Analytical Services Lab website at http://www.aasl.psu.edu for more information.
